Ransomware lorenz

Lorenz is a new variant of Sz40 ransomware, which is designed to encrypt data and demand a ransom for decryption. In other words, Lorenz makes affected files inaccessible and asks victims to pay - to regain access to their data. Except that it seems that this ransomware has design and implementation flaws, leading to impossible decryption with the tools provided by the attackers. A free decryptor for 2021 versions has been made available via the NoMoreRansom initiative. A new version of the malware was discovered in March 2022, for which a free decryptor was again provided, while the ransomware operators are unable to provide tools to decrypt the affected files.
